Love this with Punt E Mes but I just tried it with Cocchi Storico and Old Grand Dad 114° (the original 'barrel strength') bourbon. Still fantastic and better than a regular manhattan imo.

As I've explored cocktails more I've come to realise that the Manhattan — whilst an okay cocktail on it's own — really shines when you riff it, and this is yet another example of that. This is a rich cocktail, full of herbs and spices. The Punt E Mes really spices up the backend (which can be cloying to me in a regular Manhattan), and the bourbon provides some backbone and proof.

Wonderful -- a sweeter, more herbal, Manhattan.

A subtle and elegant cocktail, beautifully balanced. Don't be tempted to up the Bourbon, as we did...it will ruin the harmony.

I followed your advice and…bravo! The balance is perfect as written. The alchemy between the Americano and Benedictine is wonderful.
