Once again, the Review and Tasting notes here are pretty damn spot on. The only thing I would differ with is I don't get the spicy black pepper in the foretaste, but most certainly in the finish-through. Overall, it's dry and oaky and curiously seems to be an interesting intermediate choice when considering to make a drink with either bourbon or cognac (the latter of which it's more similar to.)
I make the comment about it being an intermediate, and I might want to totally retract that, at least with shaken drinks. Just made a Sidecar first with this and lime and it was awful. Next, made it again with lemon and it was much better. Finally, made one with Cognac, and the difference is startlingly vast. I would stick to stirred recipes with this, or just drink it on its own (w/ no food or tobacco). Its flavors are too delicate to lead a drink.
