This was the cocktail that introduced me to blood orange juice a few years ago and it has become one of my favorites.
Wonderfully balanced and it is on my top 10 cocktail list.
This is deliciously fruity. I reduced the red Vermouth by 25% and felt this gave good support to the orange flavours. In the absence of fresh juice/fruits where I live, Marks and Spencer's do a fine "Pure Squeezed Spanish Blood Orange Juice" which worked extremely well, nay, 'bloody orange well', if I'm allowed to say so.
Made a mistake by adding an extra 15ml of sweet vermouth. Was still good, but it was indeed too vermouth forward. Shame, as that was my last blood orange.
Having spent the morning dealing with some of the after effects of Storm Eunice, this has been a perfectly named choice for this evening's cocktail - well needed and much appreciated! Agree with all of John Hinojos comments re. flavours and balance. Blood oranges won't be around too much longer this year, I guess, so for a drink with freshly-made juice, grab the opportunity while you can!
