Simon Ford of The 86 Company developed this gin with Charles Maxwell of Thames Distillers. It is flavoured with 9 botanicals (juniper, coriander seeds...
I find Ford’s Gin fruitier than Bombay Sapphire, yet something in its structure feels absent — as if the spirit were holding back a layer it could reveal but chooses not to. It’s an underrated, reliable gin, competent in its clarity, but never fully committing to excellence. The 45% ABV is mild and doesn't have a strong odor.
Very punchy, bright and fresh, with distinct sweetness and enjoyable underlying warmth and dryness. A more modern, assertive style gin, well suited to G&Ts - tried an equal negroni, but still needed 40ml gin for my palate. Good value for money as noted by GMG. Looking forward to trying in a favourites like a corpse reviver and vesper!
Flavor-wise, it reminds me of Tanqueray. But it doesn't quite share its luscious, oily texture. Citrus and juniper in a pleasant harmony. A budget-friendly, high quality dry gin.
