As its creator says, this cocktail exploits the chocolate notes of a fine armagnac with complexity supplied by a small amount of fernet

Very much a Jason Clapham cocktail - a rich and intense flavour bomb, just depends if it suits your palate. This wouldn’t be my favourite but it’s very good. Noting that I also had to sub for the CioCiaro - I used ramazzotti.

I didn't have CioCiaro on hand so I used Ramazotti and a dash of orange bitters instead. This cocktail is divine, and a great use of Armagnac (an otherwise underrated spirit)! There's a lot of heavy flavours in there, but the Fernet lifts everything up in a great way. Now I just need to get a hold of CioCiaro so I can try it "proper"...

We had run out of Armagnac and Cognac but, undeterred, reached for our bottle of Avallen Calvados. Worked very nicely for us. Next time, we might nudge the contribution of the Amaro up a bit at the expense of the Cacao.

I also found I favor 1/4 on the Crème de Cacao. Little too sweet for me with a full 1/2.
