Unlike other "Magnificent Seven" lists which are hotly debated and argued over hundreds of potential candidates, I feel the "seven greatest cocktails of...
Whatever the merits of an Espresso Martini - and I do like them quite a bit - it's definitely the odd man out here. Hasn't stood the test of time yet. If you wanted a modern cocktail, I think the Bramble would have a better case.
But I don't know how you could do a list like this without a tiki drink? The Mai Tai should definitely be here.
I'm not really sure why Espresso Martinis are so popular - it must be something to do with coffee culture generally, but to me mixing caffeine and alcohol is something just not done. Isn't it just a prettier Vodka and Red Bull? When I make espresso martinis (for dinner guests: I am not a coffee fan) I use decaf so that they're not wired all evening. as far as the greatest cocktails are concerned: my vote is for the Aviation: such a superb drink.
You had me until the espresso martini, though I will admit I will be making one as soon as I go to the liquor store as my tastes are usually spot on with diffords
While the Espresso Martini is personally one of my favorite cocktails, I agree with some of the comments suggesting something a little more classic, such as the Sidecar or Gimlet. Personally, I'm offended at any list that doesn't contain an Aviation, but all that said, I think this is right on.
I appreciate that it’s hard to choose among one’s children and I have a lot of favorites not listed (e.g. The Last Word) but when choosing greatest of all time, I don’t see how you could leave out the Gimlet and the Sidecar. Next time maybe the 9 greatest?
Agreed. Click through to the recipe page and I say much the same thing. However, more people have bourbon at home and that's especially important to consider at the moment.
Guess I like Espresso Martinis. And traffic to the Espresso Martini page suggests I'm in good company. It may not vet be vintage but it is an influential and enjoyable classic.

You had me until the Espresso Martini. I'd replace with a Tom Collins or Rusty Nail.
