I saw your comment on the Recent discussions bit of the Dashboard, made the drink, drank it in the garden sun, and added it to my favourites, all in under one hour. Thank you!
This is an excellent option for a summer afternoon. Tastes of gin, but with very little "bite". The mint blends in with the herbal notes of the gin. The lemon, Orgeat, & bitters create a nice base underneath that, with a well-balanced combination of the citrus, almond, sweet, etc. Complex, but fairly smooth; goes down easy. I used Hayman's London Dry Gin, and Liber & Co Almond Orgeat Syrup.
Did not have orange bitters, so I regal shaked with an orange peel. Still didn't get the orange bitters part (as expected), but was still nice. It was an Army & Navy for a summer barbecue, with minty freshness and length.
Delightful cocktail. Sort of an almond gin sour. Note: please follow the directions. The shaking and stirring of the cocktail allows for the ice to melt and add the necessary water that is critical for the balance. While it was nice on the first sip, after a few minutes it was much better.
