A very nice cocktail. The Grand Marnier adds complexity to a cocktail where the tequila can really shine. I do find the bitters pretty essential though. Choose a bitter that is just that, bitter, without much sugar added. It's needed to balance all other ingredients.
Tried many variations of this drink (one of my hosting go-to's). I found success with 1oz each tequila/GM, and adding some sea salt.
Also, Anejo tequila, if available.
Great variation of the traditional margarita. Orange notes work perfectly. Adjusted the syrup down a bit for our personal taste (used half the amount). I do like my margaritas sour.
