Really enjoyed this. Agree it makes a wonderful apéritif. I also agree a touch sweet which as has been suggested may relate in part to the sweetness of ones grapefruit. Will try next time as suggested with 2 parts gin. This also might be a great cocktail to carbonate!
Made with Kendrick's Flora Adora Gin, this cocktail is heavenly. If you enjoy the occasional floral drink, this one should appeal beautifully as an apéritif. Highly recommended.
The interplay of the elderflower liqueur with the bitter cranberry and grapefruit juices was a pleasant surprise. Agree with J. Hinojos that it's a bit sweet as written so upped the gin to 2 oz and added a good dash of grapefruit bitters as in Difford's Grapefruit-Gin Cocktail.
Darn! Wish I’d read this before I’d made the first one - the bitters are a perfect addition. We just need Mr Difford to pop up now and agree and edit it, so I don’t have to remember tobread the comments next time.
This was very nice. We found it a bit sweet, but that may be due to the grapefruits in San Diego are tree ripened and much sweeter than those in most shops. I do feel it is a great aperitif with the sweet, bitter, and herbal flavours.
