Ketel One was created to elevate the cocktail, but also to elevate the bartender behind it. The aim of my initiative, "Beyond the bar", is to enable bartenders to grow their life skills, ensuring longevity of their hospitality career.

In GB, in October we undergo a huge change in service charge laws, for the better, and I wanted to provide a platform for bartenders to understand their increased wage. For example: lessons from professionals in how to budget their monthly salary, understand their payslip, tronc and pension schemes.

My project "Beyond the bar" will be funded by my cocktail "Synergy" inspired by how Ketel one cares for their bartending community; my drink combines ingredients created by UK bartenders.
Ketel One, the silky Dutch vodka with bartenders at its heart, with a soda created by combining Muyu Jasmine from Monica Berg with Parafante from Matthias Inglemann, with a touch of verjus and sweetness.

Essentially a beautiful vodka soda, with a community lead twist, easy to replicate in any bartending community around the world, with ingredients from their community.

This initiative can adapt to each market's needs, depending on what type of skills they want to learn, but it is all routed in advancing skills that live beyond the bar. With so many bartenders globally living and working in countries and languages that are foreign to them - a helping hand from Ketel One will only further solidify their ability to grow as a bartender and a person.

Pour Ketel One over ice, top up with homemade soda, garnish with a lemon twist, Citrus Essence Spray.
