Organic products
Carlos Mejía is a bartender from the Dominican Republic.
After Carlos discovered that the honey in his bar was not organic, he visited honey producers to learn what was behind its absence in the Dominican Republic.
Following the trip, he met with a community of fruit producers in Jarabacoa in the La Vega province to understand the causes of the bee decline, including the environmental causes and the challenges in supporting their reproduction.
Carlos created a line of organic products called BEE K, including ginger honey, mead and a pineapple shrub. He hopes to promote these organic products in the Dominican Republic as well as in bars all around the world.
Besides supporting the use of organic products, Carlos donates 80% of the proceeds towards the construction of apiaries which help the reproduction of bees.
