Roots & Cocktails
Gökhan Kuşoğlu is the bartender in Turkey behind the Better Drinking social campaign, Roots & Cocktails.
Gökhan's project supports the use of local ingredients, traditional recipes and the older generation among farmers and producers. His Better Drinking cocktail, the Bloody Nigar, is made using sun dried tomatoes, a tomato jam, 'zahter' - a blend of olive oil and thyme, and a locally fermented turnip juice.
One local producer who Gökhan supported during the project is Cavit Abi who sells his organic produce on the Ağva road including fruit, vegetables and organic carob and black mulberry molasses which is an alternative to sugar in cocktails.
The campaign encourages the Turkish bar community to get involved and showcase their participation on the platform here.
