From the local butchers and grocers to cafes and pubs, take-aways and high end restaurants and bars - independent retailers are the most visible form of culture in each village, town and city in the world.
Without them we are left with home-delivery giants, chain supermarkets and cookie cutter venues devoid of independent personality and true authentic variety.
The erosion of the high street has been happening for some time now but with the current crisis, many of these independent retailers are facing a final death blow with their employees potentially being left jobless and unable to pay rent.
Having to shut up shop himself, David and his team decided to create an online delivery platform that features only independent retailers. This features everything from grocers to cafes, restaurants and bars with the proviso that rather than laying off their staff, they keep them employed as delivery staff.
This is also a demonetised platform. Unlike other similar services, there is no sign up fee and nothing is take off, everything is kept by the retailer. They are currently developing an app making it easier to order and support local retailers. David knows the potential of this idea and is happy to share this model with people in other cities who want to follow suit.
