Crossfire Hurricane – Turning rhythm into rum

Crossfire Hurricane was born from The Rolling Stones close affiliation with Jamaica and the island's music, and this is reflected in this deeply Jamaican rum.

Importantly, Crossfire Hurricane is a blend of rums distilled at four of Jamaica's most regarded distilleries: Hampden Estate, Long Pond, Worthy Park and Clarendon. No sugar is added to the rums at any stage of production.

Each of these distilleries use different fermentation regimes, still configurations and techniques to produce spirits that range from comparatively restrained and rounded to extraordinarily aromatic, ester-rich and funky. Crossfire Hurricane combines these different components into unique, harmonious and expressive blends.

Hampden Estate House

Hampden Estate is particularly renowned for traditional pot-still rum, produced through lengthy natural fermentation and distillation, yielding high-ester rums with remarkably pungent tropical-fruit aromas. Hampden gives Crossfire Hurricane lift and unmistakable "funk".

Long Pond also has a long history of producing characterful pot-still rums and contributes richness, structure and aromatic complexity.

Worthy Park brings another interpretation of Jamaican pot-still rum. The historic estate in Lluidas Vale grows sugar cane and operates its own sugar and rum production, and its distillates are noted for combining fruity Jamaican character with balance and definition.

Clarendon provides still another dimension. The distillery produces both pot- and column-distilled spirits across numerous styles and adds body, depth, and weight to the Crossfire Hurricane blend.

Together, the distilleries allow the blender to work with a particularly broad palette of Jamaican rum styles rather than relying upon the output of a single distillery.

Ian Burrel and Cairbry Hill

Two specialists, Ian Burrel and Cairbry Hill, were closely involved in creating Crossfire Hurricane and helped shape its multi-distillery blends.

Cairbry Hill combines a background in microbiology with an award-winning career in bartending and liquid innovation. Known as the "Liquid & Bartender Guru," he has helped shape iconic drinks, opened London's legendary MetBar and co-owned a club with Massive Attack. A respected trade advocate and innovator, Cairbry brings decades of expertise and creativity to Crossfire Hurricane.

Burrell has spent decades promoting a deeper understanding of rum, particularly the importance of recognising the category's diversity of raw materials, fermentation, distillation, maturation, and regional traditions. For Crossfire Hurricane, his role was to bring together contrasting Jamaican distillates while retaining the recognisable characteristics of the island's rum.

The resulting approach combines pot and column distillates, different fermentation styles and aged and unaged components, depending on the expression.
