Headquartered in Edinburgh (production centre in Livingston), The Glenmorangie Company was founded in 1843 by Roderick Macdonald and is best known for its three single malt Scotch whiskies: Glenmorangie, Glen Moray and Ardbeg. The company also produces blends such as Bailie Nicol Jarvie and in 2004 acquired The Scotch Malt Whisky Society.
Originally founded as Macdonald and Muir Ltd, the company was renamed Glenmorangie Plc in 1996. The group was acquired by the French luxury goods conglomerate, Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH), in 2004 for £300 million.
