Domaine du Renclos was founded in 1811 by Pierre Navarre, a French shipping merchant. Fourth-generation distiller, Jacky Navarre, now manages 11 hectares estate in Grande Champagne mostly planted with Ugni Blanc but also with some Folle Blanche and Colombard grapes.
The grapes are hand-picked, fermented and distilled using a 10 hectolitre (250-gallon) copper-pot charentais still. The eaux-de-vie is aged for a minimum of 30 years, although the average age of the cognac is closer to 40 or 50 years.
