Mothballed since 1992, the present owners, Diageo, use the aging warehouses at Stitzel-Weller to house stocks of bourbon distilled here and at other distilleries.

In February 2014, Diageo announced plans to invest $2 million to transform the historic Stitzel-Weller Distillery into a Bourbon-based visitor attraction. The new visitor centre, 'Bulleit Frontier Whiskey Experience', opened a year later and showcases Diageo’s American whiskies including Bulleit and their Orphan Barrel whiskeys, Barterhouse and Old Blowhard.

When we visited in April 2015 a new Bulleit "craft distillery" was nearing completion.
