After its debut year in 2017, No.3 Gin's Unlock Taste Cocktail Tournament returns.

This classic London dry gin's longstanding history goes back over 300 years. Their annual Unlock Taste competition embodies the importance of hospitality and creating memorable experiences for guests. They want to see those values embraced through balanced drinks with excellent flavour and texture, and not to forget, great presentation as well.

What's the challenge this year? No.3 Gin invites UK bartenders to create a modern interpretation of the 20th Century, an iconic cocktail first published in William J Tarling's 1937 Café Royal Cocktail Book. They're looking for a contemporary twist, a 21st Century Cocktail.

Entries will be judged on the inspiration behind the drink and the recipe. Could your 21st Century Cocktail be the winner?

How it works

No.3 Gin will host all three rounds of the competition.

First round: Initial entries
Submit your entry on Difford's Guide by 28 February 2019. 60 successful entrants will be notified in week commencing 4 March and invited to compete in the regional finals in April.

Second round: Regional finals
Competitors will attend one of six regional finals: Scotland, North England, South England, South & East London, Central, and North & West London. The winners and runners-up will be announced on the night.

Third round: National final
The grand final will be held at No.3 St. James’s Street, an inspiration behind the gin and the brand's home for over 300 years. Regional winners and runners-up will battle it out for first place in the competition.

What's the prize

The grand final champion will win a spectacular five-day trip for two people to Hong Kong. The winner will also have the opportunity to guest shift for No.3 Gin at one of the world's top 50 bars.

Not only does the champion gain a prize, but so do the top three finalists. They'll take home a trip to No.3 Gin's beautiful distillery in Schiedam.

Also, for all regional winners and runners-up, No.3 Gin will invite them to stay in London for the national final. Transport and one-night's accommodation will be covered plus evening entertainment including a rather special Finalists Dinner on the eve of the final, curated by No.3 St. James's Street's head chef.
