Cherry Heering celebrated 200 years of the Singapore Sling, with all its historical references and myths, at this event during Tales of The Cocktail where three of the world’s best bars took over Chris Hanna’s French 75 bar in New Orleans to serve their twist on the Singapore Sling to VIPs.

Guests were given the opportunity to vote for their favourite recipe with carnival beads (that’s how favour is shown in New Orleans). Inevitably, with so many great cocktails and strings of beads, the result was either a draw, or all three teams came joint first. Either way it was a party – a party helped along by Dale DeGroff who served his own take on a classic Singapore Sling and, assisted by Lorenzo Antinori of Charles H Bar, told the history of the Sling.

120 ml Smoked Pineapple Juice
10 ml Hibiscus and Cardamom syrup
2 dashes Angostura aromatic bitters

Glass: Cocktail cherry & dehydrated lime slices
Glass: Shake first 7 ingredients with ice and strain into ice-filled glass.
30 ml Death's Door Gin
30 ml Soursop Nectar
20 ml Cherry Heering
15 ml Orange curaçao
10 ml Yellow Chartreuse
20 ml Lime juice
10 ml Simple syrup
Top with Spiced Soda

Glass: Pour all ingredients into glass filled with crushed ice and churn

22 ml Lime juice
7.5 ml Sugar syrup
2 dash Angostura aromatic bitters
2 dash Celery Coconut bitter

Glass: Highball
Glass: Pineapple wedge & maraschino cherry
Glass: Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into ice-filled glass.
45 ml Death's Door Gin
15 ml Cherry Heering
7.5 ml Cointreau
7.5 ml Bénédectine D.O.M.
60 ml Pineapple juice
1 dash Angostura bitters
15 ml Lime juice
1 dash Grenadine
