Established in 1809, when Charles Meunier, a merchant in colonial products who was fond of botany, established himself as a distiller by joining forces with Camille Teissere, a manufacturer of Ratafias and other liqueurs in Grenoble. After experiments with alpine plants, he created the first Génépi des Alpes.

In 2021, the Distillery transferred to Edouard and Arthur, the third generation of the Modelski family to run Maison Meunier.
