Glencadam operates a traditional rake-and-plough mash tun and six stainless steel washbacks which supply one 12,600 litre wash still and one 12,600 litre spirit still. Unusually the wash still has an external heater and the lyne arms of both stills run upwards at an angle of 14 degrees rather than downwards, causing reflux and contributing to Glencadam’s light spirit style. The condensers are shell-and-tube.
The distillery’s supply of production water depends on Glencadam's long-held rights to springs at The Moorans, nearly nine miles away and the water flows through the Unthank Hills on route to the distillery. The distillery also has rights to draw process (cooling) water from Barry Burn.
