Glencadam, the name of which means ‘the glen of the wild goose’, is a Highland single malt whisky distillery which was established in 1825. Its malts form the base of the Cream Of The Barley blend and since 2005 also available an office distillery released single malt.
Glencadam Distillery is located about half a mile outside the ancient city and former Royal Burgh of Brechin in Angus in the eastern Highlands of Scotland. The distiller sits between Brechin City football club and a cemetery.
Brechin was once a walled city and during the Middle Ages was a seat for religion and learning with Brechin Cathedral founded in the 13th century. Considered a city by some due to the cathedral, Brechin is the Episcopal seat of the Scottish Episcopal Church.
