This was very mellow and vermouth-forward (which will suit some drinkers, like my husband, perfectly!) For my part, I missed some of the punchiness / bite of gin. I’m going to try adding in some additional London Dry next time to try to sharpen it up :)

This was wayyyy too sweet for me in its current form with 1/6 oz syrup (and I usually like my drinks on the sweet side). If you’re making this for the first time, I recommend starting with just a dab of syrup. A little goes a very long way, since the spirits are already fairly sweet on their own. (I ended up cutting my first attempt with some very dry champagne, which was delightful in its own way.)

Any ideas about substituting the cane syrup for a similar sweetness level? Unfortunately it’s not available in my area, but not sure which would be the best stand-in syrup — simple, rich, agave, etc.

I agree with AC’s observations below — it was QUITE tart for me as written. I added an additional 1/3 oz of St. Germaine and served it on the rocks, and found the drink better for it.

The name is apt — I’d describe this as a floral version of the classic B&B. I added a dash of orange bitters and a tiny dash of Angostura, and it helped “focus” the flavors in my opinion.

A pleasant drink, with a weekend afternoon / brunchy vibe (mine came out a very pretty coral color). I do feel it could use something more to tie together the bracing gin + mellow juice. A splash of bitters or pinch of salt, perhaps? Maybe a dash of Aperol or Campari? I’ll be experimenting with this one.

Deliciously balanced, and my favorite way to enjoy Benedictine. I prefer my drink with a single ice cube, which takes the booziness back just a touch. Don’t skip the nutmeg finish :)

An awesome riff. I love the addition of Campari here — it lends a great bittersweet punchiness and melds perfectly with the blood orange.

For my taste, this drink benefits from a tiny bit more simple syrup OR a slow drinking pace so the ice in the glass lends further dilution. I never seem to manage the later, so I go for the former ;)

Helpful hint for my fellow measurement sticklers: 1/6 oz is 1 tsp.

Yum! Definitely agree that the cognac adds depth and interest. While I love the “mint chocolate chip milkshake” vibe of the OG Grasshopper, this is more of a slow late night sipper than a Baskin Robbins treat.

An instant favorite — I could drink these all day. It’s essentially a brighter margarita — with Aperol in place of triple sec, and orgeat subbing in for agave syrup. A bit sweet as written, so you may want to dial down the orgeat to taste if you prefer a punchier drink.
