Made it as written here. We really enjoyed it - sweet, thick, and rummy. Thanks for transcribing!
Light gold rum 1-3yo, Pineapple juice, Passion fruit purée, Sugar syrup 1:1, (+ 3 more)
Orgeat syrup, Lemon juice, Apple juice, Vodka
I really enjoyed this as written. To be fair, I like most tiki drinks, but this one in particular is not too sweet or too boozy. The lemon is fairly pronounced (which is a nice change, as it's so often a supporting player) and the lemon-pineapple pairing is very pleasant.
I was very pleased to discover I had the exact ingredients for this, and even more pleased when I tried it. It's very sweet (my cranberry juice may be at fault), but the fruit is a nice complement to the sweetness and it really is quite Christmasy. Overall a very nice drink.
Different from the typical. The main impact is pleasantly fruity. The Pinot Noir really makes itself known, giving the drink a tannic backbone. The flavors on this are quite intense, and could perhaps use a bit of dilution, or at least to be served very cold in small quantities; probably not one I'll come back to, but I'm glad I tried it.
This was so good I immediately made a second. It would be a good hot-weather drink, but it's also a lovely autumn evening sip. The fruit juices are perfectly balanced so no one thing dominates. Thanks for this!
Light gold rum 1-3yo, Lime juice, Maple syrup, Orange bitters
Delicious and very, very pineapple, as one would expect. The pineapple juice froths up to make a nice head and the overall drink goes down easy. Thanks for this one--it's a perfect hot afternoon on the deck kind of drink.
Martinique VSOP rum, Lime juice, Cherry brandy, Sugar syrup 1:1, Creole bitters
A [slightly] more serious milkshake is a great description. Tasty and sweet, and the cherry and almond are both very much in evidence. Lovely for an indulgent, sweet drink.
Very good, sweet but not too sweet. Definitely a rum-heavy drink, but not too spirit forward, as the Pom is strongly flavored. Thanks!
Delicious and pleasantly sour. I couldn't really detect the orgeat beyond a general sweetness, but it probably contributed to the overall effect. Pomegranate juice is lovely stuff.
This is definitely for a very, very sweet tooth. We usually like a sweet drink and found it a bit too much. It feels like it could use something (citrus? berries? brandy?) to serve as a foil to all the sugar.
Is there a suitable substitute for rose water?
Perhaps orange blossom water? If you have some left over from making grenadine.
This is a delicious, very fruity combination, entirely worth the number of ingredients. I also made one with blueberry syrup and it was equally good.
Tried it exactly as written and it was nice, fruity without being sour (you can't really detect the lemon juice at all). Rum plus fruit juice without going a tropical direction. I suspect it would indeed be even better with half gold rum.
Is there a suitable substitute for rose water?
It's not the same cocktail, but if you have orange blossom water around it has a similarly floral nose.
A tasty drink suitable for a warm evening. Slightly on the dry side, but overall relatively light, despite the amount of rum. Unfortunately made without the bitters. I'll have to try the French martini next.
