I like a Jungle Bird but I have to agree with Mike Beatty, since I also preferred this drink for the same reasons, in fact I like to showcase the tropical note a little more by adding an extra 10ml or 1/3oz of pineapple juice, in exchange for 2.5ml or 1/12oz less simple syrup, might try adding 1 dash of aromatic bitters next time

Between the Easy Street and the White Linen, I prefer the Easy Street, as it’s less Cucumber forward and the lemon juice works a little better with these ingredients, then the lime juice does in a White Linen, however if I was to make this drink again, I might ditch the simple syrup and add about 7.5ml or 1/4 fl oz elderflower liqueur and a few drops of saline solution to this drink, however overall both these drinks are pretty good and would definitely make them again

I made this exactly as followed using Knob Creek Rye, Carpano Sweet Vermouth & Scrappy Aromatic Bitters and added 5ml of Luxardo Maraschino Syrup, to bring in some sweetness without wanting to take away from the from the rye whisky and sweet vermouth, which overall it’s a pretty good drink that’s worth making again

I made this with Buffalo Trace, Knob Creek Rye, Carpano Sweet Vermouth & Scrappy Aromatic Bitters and copied the comments by adding a barspoon of Maraschino Cherry Syrup, which makes a Manhattan go from a 4.5 star to a 5 star, however as much as I love bourbon, I might prefer a Manhattan with just rye whisky and no bourbon

I just checked and it looks like I’m going to have to add the High Ryeser cocktail to my wish list, as that answers what I might prefer

I found this drink to be too sweet, so I decreased the Triple Sec and the Green Melon Liqueur by 7.5ml or 1/4 fl oz and added 15ml or 1/2 fl oz of lemon juice, which did improve this drink a little bit by adding a slight sour note, however I probably wouldn’t make this drink again if I’m being honest

I quite liked this, however I felt like there was a just tad too much of a bittersweet note happening in this drink and not enough of a floral not, so I made this again by swapping the Elderflower Liqueur and Lemon Juice measurements around and added 2.5ml of Agave Syrup and thought that this was a bit better, since you still get that bittersweet note from the Aperol, Lemon Juice and the Aromatic Bitters without it overshadowing the Elderflower Liqueur, making it more pleasant to my taste

An Excellent Cocktail with the Crème De Cassis not being overpowering, with there being a nice amount of citrus coming through from the limes, with the small hint of Grand Mariner smoothing things out nicely, which I’m going to make this again by swapping out the Crème De Cassis for Crème De Framboise and swapping out the Lime Juice for lemon juice, with the measurements being the same to see how that goes

Ryan Harrold

Just tried it and it’s a little more sour and tart due to the Lemon Juice and Crème De Framboise, but works really well with the Dark Rum and the small hint of Grand Mariner, with in my opinion this variation being equally as good the original

You might also like to try the Charlie Pie: 40ml gin, 30 sweet vermouth, 10 Campari, lemon twist. Arguably had an equally estimable heritage, and a completely different balance.

Ryan Harrold

I finally got around to making the Charlie Pie as you suggested, which is definitely not as bitter as a regular Negroni but is definitely more sweeter in taste, with the saline solution being a nice touch, so overall I would rate this cocktail a 4.5 stars the rating could be higher or lower if I had some Chocolate Bitters on hand, which I currently do not have based on your comment on the Charlie Pie

A solid Margarita variation, with the Cranberry Juice adding a nice tartness with the sharpness of the Reposado Tequila and the Grand Marnier, which next time I decide to make this, I might add 1 dash of Angostura Bitters and take John’s suggestion and swap some of the Sugar Syrup for some Grenadine

I have similar thoughts about Campari. My solution is to use equal parts of Aperol and Campari (to total the same volume as just Campari).

Ryan Harrold

I just finished drinking a Negroni making it exactly how you suggested it and it was actually better then just cutting the Campari in half, which is what I would normally do, so I will definitely be doing going forward or I might end up trying an alternative like select, which is supposed to be sweeter then Campari but still bitter, although some people say it’s more of an alternative to Aperol then it is an alternative to Campari

Although this cocktail isn’t very innovative, this gin based Mojito might be one of the most refreshing cocktails I’ve come across on this website so far, in which I could easily make another one and drink it within what would feel like 5 seconds, definitely worthy of a 5+ rating

Although I’m not used to seeing this cocktail made like this, the inclusion of Chambord and pineapple juice as well as making this cocktail layered, gives this cocktail a nice twist without it tasting unpleasant, which would definitely be great drink to have by the pool

Just like a Daiquiri, a Margarita is a cocktail that I’ve had multiple times that’s both simple and great, with a Margarita being both sweet and tart, which this time I used 1800 Blanco Tequila and the Margarita was great like always

A Negroni is one cocktail that I have a love hate relationship with, due to me not liking too much Campari or other red bitter liqueurs in cocktails like a Negroni, which is what this cocktail has, however making a Negroni with 15ml or 1/2 fl oz instead of using 30ml or 1 fl oz, makes this cocktail more palatable for my tastes, which gives me a better understanding as to why a Negroni is such a beloved cocktail by others

This is quite a nice riff on a Sidecar, with the Limoncello coming through, giving this drink a nice sour & tart kick to a classic Sidecar, making this drink quite pleasant

Ryan Harrold

This cocktail hits you with an explosion of flavours and is great, which after making the first one with light gold rum as intended, I decided to make another one with dark rum, which although it work’s pretty well with dark rum, the flavours don’t end up standing out as much, so it’s better to make this as intended with light gold rum, so maybe next time I might try making this with white rum instead of light gold rum and see how that goes

As someone who really loves all these ingredients, this cocktail is a great sipper and is definitely worth making, if you haven’t done so already

Ryan Harrold

For the rum I used Appleton Estate 8 Year old Reserve and for the Prosecco I used Belvino, which paired with other the ingredients ended up tasting lovely, which would make a great summer Christmas drink here in Australia

Hi Ryan. Please see link to "Difford's Sidecar recipe" above. This is more in line with yours.

Ryan Harrold

I just tried your version, which is slightly similar from the way I would make a Sidecar, but your version of a Sidecar ends up being slightly better then my simple change to a Sidecar so thanks
