Excellent cocktail, dry, aromatic and boozy. But if you just add a 1/4 shot of mezcal (maybe a 1/6 would do) , you won't regret it 😁

When winter is coming...
I added 1/6 shot of Islay whisky, just to make sure about the peat...
This cocktail is strong but not brutal at all. I would even say comforting.
Gin is mentioned among ingredients while the review says «laced with vodka»...
So I've tried both ! And though I am a convinced gin lover, I like vodka better in this case.
Even better with a half shot of lime juice, in my opinion...
Can't believe you did it ! :'D
Maybe a little heavy on the apricot brandy. 2/3 is enough for me. Plus I raise the whiskey to 2 shots. And then it's the real thing, in my opinion ;-)
Absolutely delicious although I will omit or at least diminish sugar syrup next time. Islay whisky and cherry liqueur combine so well. A great comforting cocktail, tasty and unusual as commented by a discerning anonymous drinker ?
Really enjoyed this. Reduced the simple syrup by half.
I agree about the syrup !
The whisky sour (with bourbon) has three dashes of Angostura bitters in its recipe. However, David Embury suggests that Peychaud combines better than Angostura with scotch (in his recipe of the Bobby Burns). So, I tried adding three dashes of Peychaud in a Scotch Sour. You should try it too, in my opinion... ;-)
This cocktail is also great without any bitters.
This cocktail is definitely delicious when made by the book. However it's also worth trying it with a lime zest twist instead of orange, as a reminiscent spirit of the ti-punch...
If French amaro refers to Picon Amer, then it should be said that Picon actually comes from Belgium. However, it's so good that it could be French ! ;)
Although I tend to prefer the dryer Brooklyn Cocktail, I must admit that this version is... perfect ! One of my favorite cocktails in winter. It's so comforting.
A great cocktail when winter is coming ! Nevertheless, I definitely prefer the oatmeal water version over this latest one with oat milk. Both texture and taste of oatmeal water give character.
Try it with heather honey too and you won't regret it (I hope so !). Heather combines very well with Drambuie in my opinion.
