Decent taste profile but cloying for me. I use half of the maraschino liquor and it tastes so much better!

Dan Hunter

Do this. Tapan is correct. I find that it also benefits from stirring twice as long as you normally would.

Well this was a little treat, something very Italian about it. Felt like I should have just got out of a little 2 seater wearing a cravat. Read all the other comments and decided to add 5ml to each of the gin and Bianco and 10ml less maraschino. Absolutely lovely.

Dan Hunter

Do this. Needs more thumbs up.

Mess of a cocktail that tastes marginally better stirred. Should be a shot with a Tajin rim. Worked better with the grenadine at 15 ml too. My grenadine is the Morgenthaler recipe, so it ain't a red, fruitish syrup. That might be the x-factor.

Dan Hunter

Agreed. This is a hot mess. The balance is that of a boat on the ocean at 12 miles. You will need to pick your favourite spits and attempt to balance with your specific grenadine and lemon juice. Bonne Chance.

I used Green Apple Soju and this hits very juicy. Only had cubed ice and it absolutely needs crushed or pebbled ice. I also adjusted with dry curacao and it’s still a sweet one. Overall excellent hot Summer drink.

So the quality of your Falernum is of paramount importance in this. The Irish whiskey needs to be able to play nice in this. So a little less leprechaun to ride the mythical unicorn called green chartreuse. Last word inspired, sure. Last word riff no. If you can balance it like at stack of books at the Library inside the Detroit Club at 11:30 then you have a winner.

The Mojito always struck me as intentionally lazy. It's hot. You're tired. Do you REALLY want to be shaking, straining, cleaning up, trying to find the compost bin at the back of the kitchen? Am I working in a bar being paid for this while the AC keeps me chilled to room temp?

Hell no! It's 25C+ outside! I want to chuck stuff in a glass, stir, and probably reuse the mint for the next one. Just to avoid the 20 steps to the herb garden when I have two pots of prolific mint to snatch a few shoots from... I second another commenter on making a soda water cooler in between Mojitos. It's criminal to waste ice on days like today!

Dan Hunter

Patrick sir, you are a scholar and a mind reader. If I could give you 2 thumbs up I would.

Lots of different ways to get to this destination (or nearby): also fun to make w/ ginger juice for an extra kick, or with just honey (who has time for ginger syrup - honestly), with ginger preserves and half the honey for the same idea. You can also mule this thing up by lengthening w/ ginger beer for a long, spicy, summer refresher.

Dan Hunter

The spicy summer refresher is lights out my man. Good show.

This makes me feel like I have passed out on a wealthy persons front lawn and woke up in the morning chewing the soft grass clippings. It is quite enjoyable.
