International Arms Race was brewed as part of a challenge between UK based BrewDog Brewery and the USA Flying Dog Brewery. The parameters of the beer were that it was an IPA style brew using no hops, instead replacing them with berries, herbs and roots. Both un-hopped beers are dubbed 'Zero IBU IPA'

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 03/11/2012

Appearance:

(best before 23-May-13) Clear, deep amber with a wafer-thin off-white head.

Aroma:

Dried apricot, eucalyptus and pine with floral honeysuckle and lavender.

Taste:

Oh dear, proof that beer needs hops. The herbal, slightly sweet palate is strangely reminiscent of Sasparilla, caramel and elderflower with a faint note of ginger.

Aftertaste:

Caramel, Sasparilla and candied ginger.
