Said to be based on a 15th-century recipe created by a monk named Isidor who lived within the walls of the Chudov monastery in the Kremlin - note the use of the word 'legend'. This wheat-based vodka is rested in copper vats prior to bottling.

The decanter-style bottle is apparently based on a vintage Russian vodka carafe made at the Potyomkin glassworks in the last quarter of the 16th century. Sadly this top-self looking bottle is let down by the distinctly 21st century plastic taper evident capsule. When 'ripped' open a jagged plastic edge is left on the capsule and bottle neck. The bottle itself is non-refillable.

Avaliação e degustação

Experimentado em 04/06/2012

Aparência:

(bottle No. H015452) Crystal clear.

Aroma:

Reminiscent of brown bread crust with light vanilla and dusted with black pepper.

Sabor:

Strangely soft mouthfeel yet with baked grain, cracked black pepper heat and delicate vanillins. (We suspect subtly sweetened with some added flavour).

Aftertaste:

Spiced, slightly sweet toasted finish with lasting peppery prickle.
