Now produced by Bacardi, this is William Lawson’s entry level blend.

William Lawson is thought to have been born in 1853 and although details of his early years are sketchy, it is known that by 1888 he was exports manager at a spirits company called Edward & John Burke Ltd in Dublin. He must have been a well-regarded blender, as one of the company’s blended whiskies was named after him. Perhaps inspired by this notoriety he left messrs. Edward & John Burke and in 1849 established his own whisky blending company in Dundee.

William Lawson’s enterprise did not prove to be a lasting success but his name and reputation endured to be picked up and revived after the Second World War as the name of a Liverpool based blending and export company. Production of William Lawson's Blended Scotch Whisky resumed and unlike Lawson’s original enterprise, the eponymous company thrived and in 1967 moved to Main Street, Coatbridge, Scotland.
