Made by macerating and then distilling 33 plants, Arquebuse de l’Hermitage was formulated in 1857 by Brother Emmanuel, a herbalist of the Marist Brothers from the Hermitage Monastery, in Saint Genis Laval, France.
According to legend, Arquebuse de l’Hermitage was used to treat those wounded by harquebus (blunderbuss) shots leading to the name this clear, sugar-free spirit is known by today.

It is best served chilled on the rocks or in a cocktail, or with lemon juice and/or lemonade, or long over ice with freshly pressed pineapple juice. It is also served hot grog and used in cooking recipes.
