This 16 year old replaced the previous 15 year old official Longmorn distillery bottling. Slick new packaging, released 2009 and updated 2017, complete with leather skirted base looks the part complete with metal collar.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 21/04/2017

Appearance:

Clear, golden yellow.

Aroma:

Malty, biscuit nose with wafts of fresh coffee, apple skin, balsawood and subtle hints of tinned pineapple. More sweet biscuit and pineapple with water.

Taste:

Quite sweet, fruity and rounded with delicate wafts of smoke, strong bourbon notes, hints of espresso and oily mineral notes. Water dries, killing this malts attractive richness.

Aftertaste:

Refreshingly clean finish features minty, grapefruit and flinty, minerally notes.

Overall:

Rich and biscuity with bitter chocolate and espresso. While we like this 16 Year Old we mourn the demise of the 45% alc./vol. 15 year old.
