The tenth of a limited series of annual releases from the long closed Brora distillery on the Sutherland coast and is the oldest-ever distillery bottling. This natural cask strength bottling comprises whiskies at least 32 years-old, aged in refill American oak & refill European oak casks.
Only 1,500 individually numbered bottles worldwide (less than half recent releases) will be available worldwide.
Sampled on 20/10/2011
Clear, antique gold.
Buttery sweet pastry nose with aromas of stewed ripe sweet pear, shortbread, cloves and burnt raisins.
Tightly integrated palate with fabulous interplay between smoke and rich butteryness.
Delicate smoke drifts around on the finish with coconut husk, hints of buttery oak and a sprinkling of cracked white peppercorns.
