From the closed distillery on the Sutherland coast, released in 2015, this 37 year old Brora is the oldest bottling released as part of Diageo’s Special Releases to date. Drawn from 17 refill American oak casks filled on three separate dates.
Sampled on 23/09/2015
Clear, pale to mid-golden amber.
Spicy and fruity with sherbet, old leather, old books, grass, stewed fruits and smoke. Farmyard and red apple notes are released with water.
Ripe pear and pear drops with meaty character and smoked pear/apple juice. More apple with water and also creamy milk chocolate and waxiness.
Smokiness and meatiness emerges with lingering waxy grassy notes.
Special due to being from a new closed distillery but also special due to its superb quality. Smoky and delicately spiced with red apple, pear drops and creamy milk chocolate.
