Originally established as Franklin & Brothers in April 1886 by George, Albert and Frederick Franklin. The brothers made and built up a reputation for their brewed ginger beer, which they sold in returnable glass and stoneware bottles as well as soda siphons.
In 1898, the business was taken over Frederick Frankins son, also named Frederick, so the company was renamed Franklin & Sons.
By 1930 the company had grown to the extent that new flavours, inspired by demand from Americans travelling to London were introduced. Then in 1989, what had become a successful brand and company was acquired and absorbed by a larger competitor leading to the demise of Franklin & Sons name. That was until it was relaunched in 2016.
