The Franklin & Sons name was introduced in 1886 when the Franklin Brothers started selling their range of soft drinks from their small family confectioners store at 171 High Street, Rickmansworth, London. The name was revived 130 years later with the introduction of a new range of premium tonic and mixers by Global Brands of Chesterfield, England in 2016.

Originally established as Franklin & Brothers in April 1886 by George, Albert and Frederick Franklin. The brothers made and built up a reputation for their brewed ginger beer, which they sold in returnable glass and stoneware bottles as well as soda siphons.

In 1898, the business was taken over Frederick Frankins son, also named Frederick, so the company was renamed Franklin & Sons.

By 1930 the company had grown to the extent that new flavours, inspired by demand from Americans travelling to London were introduced. Then in 1989, what had become a successful brand and company was acquired and absorbed by a larger competitor leading to the demise of Franklin & Sons name. That was until it was relaunched in 2016.
