Ponte Vecchio 2,
Bassano del Grappa,
In an age of globalisation and conglomerates growing steadily bigger, swallowing smaller competitors in their wake, it’s reassuring that family-owned and run businesses continue to thrive and prosper. Established in 1779, by Bortolo Nardini, and still run by his descendants, Nardini is the world’s oldest grappa producer and one of Italy’s oldest companies.
If in Venice or this part of Italy you'd be wise to spend at least a day visiting the picturesque town of Bassano del Grappa, and while there stroll across the historic bridge, stopping for several drinks at Nardini’s grapperia, surly one of the oldest bars in the world?
Nardini’s Bassano distillery and attached Bolle visitor centre is a 4km taxi ride away and the Nardini family welcome visitors interested in expanding their knowledge of grappa and its production and offer sampling of their product range. Visits are conducted by appointment only, in Italian or English for groups of at least 15 guests to a maximum of 50. (Must be 18 years old or over).
Monday to Friday 9am-11am and 2:30pm-5pm
