In March 2007 the owners of Bruichladdich Distillery announced they intended to resurrect the distillery at Port Charlotte which was closed in 1929. Lying around three miles along the coast from Bruichladdich and variously over the years as Lochindaal Distillery and Rhinns Distillery, Port Charlotte was built in 1829.
