Adjacent to the Tower Of London's fortified walls, the modern structure of The Perkin Reveller juxtaposes nicely with its historic surroundings. Exposed stone work, arches and a stunning aged angelic painting above the bar, as well as the church-like heavy tables and candelabras, all contribute to a historic atmosphere. Guests can perch at a copper and soft leather bar in the restaurant itself, but there's a dedicated cocktail lounge too where the bartender's work from an antique church pulpit topped with zinc.
Open for the last year, the bar is under the command of Jeremy Pascal, formerly of Gilbert Scott bar at St Pancras. He has created a menu divided by gin, classic cocktails, punches and Prohibition-era drinks, although the menu is subject to seasonal inspiration with themed cocktails popping up depending on the day.
Once the restaurant starts to fill and groups settle into the bar the venue has a warm buzz with simple, friendly service and good drinks. Drinking alongside the Thames, with the Tower of London behind, this is a perfect spot to contemplate the city's history with a classic cocktail in hand.
