Review

200-odd brews and more on tap in Lisbon’s original and best-regarded craft beer bar.

Lisbon’s original craft beer bar, and still its best-regarded, Cerveteca Lisboa opened its doors back in 2014 on a little square not far from Principe Real and is still going strong. During the day, light floods the bright, utilitarian space, while pale wood and plywood create an IKEA-meets-classroom feel.

Shelves house an impressive range of around 200 bottled and (yes) canned beers from Belgium, Sweden, Canada, the US and beyond. There are up to 20 brews on tap, some from homegrown brewers such as Amnesia, Bolina or Mean Sardine, which showcase what the nation can do as it escapes from the dominance of Sagres and Super Bock.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff will help navigate the wealth of what’s on offer, up to and including providing sample tasters. Beer fans can use the Untappd app to check what’s pouring on the day.
