The kind of place you might overhear, "You can buy his five album box set for a tenner" and "he sings like Van Morrisonon acid", this atmospheric little boozer hosts gigs every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday so attracts a mixed crowd of music lovers as well as friendly locals.
The 70s kitsch influenced ground floor is not much bigger than a large domestic lounge, with a six piece band and their kit occupying 20% of the space it can get very cosy, but an intimate acoustic gig atmosphere is guaranteed. Space in the upstairs room is equally cramped but there's also a small roof terrace should you feel claustrophobic.
The drinks offering is adequate rather than special with 7 wines by the glass from the good folk at the neighbouring Waterloo Wines, 3 cask ales on hand-pump and mainstream keg beers including the likes of San Miguel, Red Stripe, Amstel, Leffe and Guinness. The spirits range is also basic but with a splattering of single malts. A tasty Pieminister pies are served with optional mash potato, minty mushy peas and "groovy gravy". Yummm.
The Glad's friendly staff, cosy proportions and great live music make this a popular local's London boozer.
