Review

Taking up a corner site on a busy intersection on Stoke Newington Road, la revolucion has come to an area where the culinary emphasis is largely on Turkish food. Here, in an environment of kitsch furniture and bar brick, is this cocktails and tapas joint. Small tables in close proximity lend it a constantly buzzy air, and during evenings the low-lit room has plenty of atmosphere.

The laminated menu focuses on rum and tequila, with an emphasis on classic serves, as well as some more adventurous combinations - we liked bourbon, calvados and agave, served on the rocks. There's also a separate seasonal list (all drinks £7-8) but beyond the odd fruit there's little that shouts local (guavas may be in season somewhere in the world, but it's unlikely they are grown in Dalston). Drinks are served in what were once cutting edge glassware (but are now novelty items).
