This neighbourhood restaurant and bar is owned and run by a husband and wife team, Phil and Cameron West: he looks after the kitchen with Chef Rachel Sillcocks while she handles front of house, both assisted by a devoted team.
A central kitchen divides the long, narrow room into distinct bar and restaurant areas. Purchased from a local reclamation store, the 1930s sage green blood bank refrigerator naturally became the centre piece of the bar. The modern yet warm interior with its polished wooden floor is enlivened by art deco touches.
Glass shelves behind the black granite bar counter display a well-chosen selection of high-end liquor while the succinct drinks list offers regular cocktails along with seasonal specials - all are superb. The wine list presents a broad selection of well-chosen bins including 15 by the glass. There's a couple of local brews on draught and an international selection of quality bottled beers, while the food is among the best in the city. Behind the bar the talented Taylor knocks out great drinks supported by Chris who tells jokes. The pirate one is actually quite funny.
