Review

You'll find the bar in the basement of this Mayfair 'canteen' just off Oxford Street - a dark, lounge bar full of plump and brightly coloured upholstered furniture, warmer and cosier than its more sterile, monochrome ground floor restaurant. On the quieter side during week nights - and not helped by the bar being at the far end of a long, thin space - it's rather more busy and atmospheric on Fridays and Saturdays.

A short list of just six cocktails unearths some originality - French herbal liqueur Chartreuse provides the base of a lurid-green concoction and there's a chili and cucumber Margarita - though most are tropical fruit-flavoured, sweeter mixes and we found them rather one-dimensional. All will sit better with ladies who lunch than serious drinkers seeking a spirit hit. Comfort food accompaniments include posh fish fingers and a great mac 'n' cheese. Slick service is both warm and efficient.
