Review

Henry's Bar and its adjoining sister Bar Bukowski are named after Henry Charles Bukowski (1920-1994), a German-born American poet and novelist. Quotes from his works appropriately decorate Bar Bukowski. Of the two, Henry's is the cocktail bar with more of a lounge vibe.

Both bars are loud hipster hangouts with Henry's scooping Esquire's Best New Cocktail Bar soon after opening in 2013. Provocative artwork adorns the walls of Henry's with the cactus plants above the bar giving this cocktail lounge something of a Mexican feel. Low slung seating fills the large expanse of wooden floor and at weekends it can be something of a mission to progress from the door to the bar counter at the back of the room.

Cocktails are well made and keenly priced with an emphasis on gin and genever based drinks and an extensive G&T list.
