This is one of my all-time favourite restaurants, but few people realise it is also a spectacular bar. The eponymous 'Brothers', Robert and David Eyre, grew up in colonial Mozambique where they developed a love for authentic Portuguese regional cuisine. After decades honing their skills in various aspects of the restaurant trade the result is this Iberian eatery with Robert hosting front of house, while David runs the kitchen.
Mahogany encircles the dining area of this contemporary space with plush American black walnut and leather chairs and banquettes. The twelve-metre long bar is as comfortable to eat at as a table and, dear discerning drinker, there are also sofas in the lounge area on which to savour an old fashioned.
Dishes such as Gambas al Ajillo can be washed down with one of the wines from the all Iberian wine list sourced from a dozen different suppliers. Beers are also Iberian with Sagres on draught and naturally there's a great selection of sherries and port. The broad drinks selection also includes classic cocktails.
