Pinchito literally translates from Spanish as 'little thorn' or 'little pointed stick' and is the name for bite sized Basque appetisers usually speared with cocktails stick and served on bread. It is also the name of this small tapas bar a stone's throw from Old Street tube which serves the eponymous snacks.

Pinchito might straddle The City boarder but it has a distinctly 'Ditch' interior with unplastered whitewashed breeze block walls, bare wooden floor, raw pine garage doors and industrial lighting. The room is dominated by a horseshoe-shaped black oxide finished steel bar counter fronting an open kitchen. It may not be Ditch grunge but it is certainly raw urban.

Aptly named, tapas includes staples such as octopus and chorizo - it's all too easy to keep popping these tasty little snacks. The wine list follows the theme being exclusively Spanish and naturally there's a decent selection of sherries. The very affable Tobi also serves a mean cocktail - try the ever-changing 'Cocktail del Dia' (cocktail of the day).
