I not sure why this bar is named after a small horse but it is headed up by Gerry Calabrese, son of cocktail guru Salvatore Calabrese but don't expect his dad's signature five star style. To the contrary, this is a place where the staff are more about tattoos and piercings than they are pressed shirts and tailored jackets.
Either side of the upstairs bar counter are museum-style dioramas with stuffed animals (sadly no pony) while the white painted remains of a crumpled car grace a side wall. The basement offers a small dancefloor and a lot of mirrors and can be very load - I only venture down there to use the gents.
This place is more mainstream in its clientele than more classically 'Ditch' venues nearby and late week this place is rammed with the bridge and tunnel brigade out for a good time. Even then the cocktail offering here is far from mainstream with a well trained team still turning out good drinks even when under pressure.
