Review

The Papillon Bar is tucked away, off to the left from the Bank Hotel's lobby entrance. It is intimate, elegant and refined with wall-to-wall carpet and mahogany panelling inspired by the director's personal office of the bank which formerly occupied this building.

The room is small enough that you'll quickly get to know your bartenders and they will, in turn, develop a feel for your personal tastes. Signature cocktails are classically based with the Old Bank, a riff on the Old Fashioned with China China being my favourite. It should be noted that both the Bloody Mary's served in this bar and the shrimp sandwich are glorious.

Sophie's Bar, which lies to the right of the lobby is a very much larger and quite different affair and it is this bar which comes to life at weekends.
