Review
The Salon is a café by day and a restaurant and bar in the evening, spread across two levels with a small restaurant upstairs and an even smaller bar on the lower level. The quality of both the food and drink served here ensures its popularity, so Salon 39 can get very crowded.
On such nights large groups are turned away so that although tightly packed in, most guests are seated and very happy to have scored one of the bar’s coveted seats. Reserve a table in the restaurant to ensure both your seat and great food. (The rib of beef looked mouth-watering.)
Light jazz plays and the lighting is low. Cocktails here are beautifully crafted, many utilising the bar’s large range of bitters and house infusions. The Bird is the Word with grappa, Green Chartreuse, lime juice and chocolate bitters was a cracking example of their classically styled cocktails.
