Located on the fourth floor of the Harvey Nichols' department store, this the perfect place for weary shoppers to down a swift G&T and briefly anaesthetise their credit card trauma.
The interior design is somewhere between airport-lounge chic and 70s drinking den which is inoffensive but comfortable. Think burgundy leather sofas and teak, G-Plan coffee tables. However, the real focus point of the bar is the viewing window offering views over the city to Edinburgh Castle and the Firth of Forth beyond. Even on a grey afternoon the view out over the river and above the rooftops is - calming.
The drinks list is serious with a lengthy cocktail menu of 'Forth Floor Creations'. It all looks inventive with a definite focus on the female drinker but with a strong beer selection to keep the boys placated. The wine list is also extensive with some tasty wines by the glass.
All in - convenient for an afternoon tipple or for somewhere to park your husband.
